Times

Ok yall here is the time set-up for the DDR Tournament

Register 1 to 1:55

1:15 to 1:45 for warm up

2 to 3:00 qualify

3:15 to 5 for Standard Tournament.

5:45 till 6:15 for Warm-up (Heavy Players Only).

6:30 to 8 for Heavy Tournament.

8:15 to Close Free Play

* Time may change depending on how the Tournament goes.

** The Qualify round is where we are going to give everyone a Standard song to play. You well be seeded in the Standard or Heavy brackets. (Ex. 32 players signed up the top 16 will move up to the Heavy Round.)

If you do not register from 1 to 1:55 you canít take part in the Tournament, but you can take part in the free play. If you do not show up for the qualify round you can take part in the Tournament, but can still take part in the free play.

Rules

OK everyone. I have gotten up with the staff of this DDR Tournament and we have got everything set up. Here are the final rules for the DDR tournaments.

1) The will be two tournaments at the DDR Gaming Expo. A Standard Tournament and a Heavy Tournament. There will be a qualifying round that will decide on what Tournament you are best suited for.

2) Each round will be played with 2 out of 3 songs. The way that songs are picked is as follows: The first song is picked by Player One. The second song is picked by Player Two. In a result of a tie, the third song is picked at Random by the game.

3) The way that the player wins a song is by whoever obtains the highest numerical score. No matter what letter grade the player got, or the number of perfects, the score is what matters here.

4) The only Modifications (Options) that may be changed is the speed. No solo, no reverse, nothing. Speed is the only thing that can be changed.

5) This is a single Elimination Tournament. Once you lose your gone.

6) After the tournament the DDR room will be open for free play to everyone. :-)

7) All ill conduct and/or tampering/vandalization of any and all equipment will be dealt with according. Any such action will also cause for immediate disqualification and have you removed from the Game Expo entirely.

Okay I am going to be in the tournament and I had a few questions about it.

1) Firstly what kind of dance pads will you be using. And what do they look like? I wanted to know to get acoustomed ahead of time. I have metel and soft pad

2) Next, Will I be allowed to compete barefoot...I have never really played DDR with shoes on. So I wanted to know if I would have to in this one.

3) And how is the seeding going to workout, Because I want to be in the Heavy tournament and don't want to be placed in Standard because this will be very insulting so I was still a little curious to how the sorting would happen.

Thank you so much and Kalvin you rock for helping setting this up Muhahaha :-) See ya at school!

We have just confirmed that we will be sponsored by and featuring Cobalt Flux pads. Visit www.cobaltflux.com for more info. We will also have metal pads available and even a few soft pads.

I'll leave the other questions up to our DDR administrators!

You can play with Socks, Shoes, anything. I dont Care.

As for seeding in the tournament. In the Qualify round there will be a song picked by the Staff. (a standard song or a really easy Heavy one.) Lets say 32 ppl sign up for this tournament. the top 16 will go on to the Heavy Tournament and the other will be seeded in the Standard tournament. so do ur best at Qualify round. Dont ask what the song is you will find out at the Expo.

These pads are my friend's pads. So honestly i would totally prefer everyone 2 play in socks or bare. Some shoes have grooves in them that can have rocks or etc... but if u REALLY have to play in shoes to work then they will be checked by the ppls in the room just to make sure u wont scratch the pads. thanks!

There were only 4 people in the standard tournament, so I think it would have been more effective to divide total number of participants in half and, using their qualifying score on Dream a Dream, place them in an Upper Heavy and a Lower Heavy tournament. But that's just my opinion.
Amazing job guys! Thanks Anthony for the pads!

Yes, like Will said, our turn out for the Standard competition was rather disappointing to say the least. We had four people make it in that tournament and only three actually participated. Next year, where hopefully I'll be more personally involved (I intend on joining PBL), we'll have a higher heavy class and a lower heavy class which will help broaden the range of who competes but also levels out the field for those of us who aren't the best in the world but we can surely hold our own. ^_^ Ah... I would also like to extend a heart-felt thanks to Anthony who provided the cobalt flux pads that made this tournament worth while. I can't say it had to be pleasing to get back a couple of $325 pads back after various feet and shoes had been on but that's what they make Lysol for eh? ;) Hopefully we can be sponsored even more pads for next year and make DDR a bigger tournament than Halo / Halo 2 could ever hope to be. ^o^
