Smashers, Bringing your own controller is the best idea ever. I say it because it lets you know that the controller you use has nothing wrong with it and that its not affecting your game play. Not saying that the controller provided is not usable (we tested them)
but after the 20 person uses them they may be a bit dirty O_O

Also I am sorry and sad to say that the melee free play room could not happen. I truly Apologize for it not happening. the two rooms I have picked were not strong enough to hold more then 4 tvs per room. These rooms are older and were only given 1 breaker for both rooms. unlike the computer rooms which have plenty of power. I am sorry, If I were to put more tvs into the rooms it would killed the fuse and make both rooms unusable, thus ending the brawl tournament. So the choice had to be made.

Just to let all know, The stages I picked are from only the counter picks and neutral stages that ARE found from Smash boards (SBR), and smash wiki. I will most likly use them again and may add some. I know my stages are Fairly picked from the best sites.

(P.S. MK is not bad, just unplug MKs controller and boom you win ^_^)

I think the rules were mostly fine. Only thing I would change in the future is that instead of playing out sudden death, if both players have the same stock, the person with the lowest percent wins when it goes to sudden death.

That's how they did it on the ladder on AIB, and it's a lot more fair imo. I've had matches where the other guy was at like 180% and I was at 10%, same stock, and it went to sudden death. In that situation I obviously had the game in the bag and deserved the win, but in a sudden death situation, they could have easily turned it around and won.

Just my two cents. Let everyone in the room next year, it'll go faster, lol.

Good idea, Its logical I will look over it when I get to editing the rules. Now about the people in the room, yeah now it sound like a good idea since I can think clearly ^_^. But next year I will have it where you know the time of your matches though out the event , so a group of people come in and out at apprx. times. Next time we wont need to come looking for people. next time people will come to us right before their match. 09 wont happen again.

And a rule I am looking to state is a bring your controller policy, seeing a majority does so anyway. This rule save time and hassle from having to get different controllers for different players.

2010 will shine!!!

This was my first big tournament experience, but seriously, the rules pissed me off more than not allowing us to watch matches (some fat girl kept closing the door with a cocky grin on her face EVERY TIME the door opened, while bunches of us were crowded in that hallway with nothing to do). Dude, if you want to run a tournament that will have a good -reputation- you need to play with a real ruleset. Random stages, no counterpicks, and only 1 round matches? Players have hardly any time to adjust their playstyle to counter their opponent. Sadly, playing with all you've got b/c you only have 1 round just encourages spamming to win. (though it's perfectly legitimate). Like dude, in the winner's bracket, when I lost I was just starting to make a comeback after adjusting to that crazy toon link in the 2nd stock...

In the loser's bracket, I lost b/c I accidently messed up my c4 recovery WHILE I WAS WINNING. I mean..Christ, 1 round matches is the lamest thing ever. Go for a smaller cap and enforce it next time. I don't know if you consider this tourney successful, but I don't, and I know the majority of the people who entered are not talking about how good it was.

Ok I understand your point. The people organization was not good. I am working on that now. now the Tournament rules on how many matches per round I would need 16 stations instead of 8 which unless I become ungodly rich this year, I just cant do. Now that is why I did double elimination becasue 2 out of 3 matches for every match would take way to much time.
sorry if you feel that way.
