I don't understand why all these fighting game tournaments are double elimination but single match. EVERY tournament that i've ever been to has always had best 2/3 matches and best 3/5 matches for winners finals, losers finals, and grand finals. Why aren't you guys doing this? This may or may not determine whether or not jacksonville shows up

Hey Hollywood I know that fighters are normally run that way, we have tried running the fighters 2/3 before and ran wayyyy over time, but that was when we had 3 games in one room. This year we will have Tekken 6 and UMvC3 in one room, and Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter in the other. So I would like to try to run Tekken 6 and UMvC3 as 2/3. But I am going to need things to work quickly the day of the tournament. So if I start acting like a jerk I'm sorry lol.

Shinigaminoryu we don't own any arcade sticks to hand out to attendee's just controllers sorry. I would love to see everyone on a arcade stick thou! Maybe ask one of your fellow tournament goers to borrow?

Just wondering, but is UMvC3 going to be on Ps3 or Xbox360? Not very fond of the 360 controller, where the Ps3's D-pad is so much nicer. If I only I had a stick that I can use for both systems I wouldn't have to worry about this. Reply back ty.

Well hopefully umvc3 gets the 2/3 deal! I may have an additional stick available the day of the tournament but not sure. I know a few guys who will have their sticks with them

Ok wait a minute. This is not making ANY sense to me. You mean to tell me that Tekken6, who had a whopping attendance of 23 people last year, is a less popular game, and gets a full 3 hours of time...That game deserves best 2 out of 3 matches?!?!?! Are you crazy? SSF4 had more than double the amount of players and only get one match. How about using a portion of the setups designated for Tekken for AE (since its a considerably less populated) and it speeds up the process giving AE the 2 out of 3. And what is this craziness of NO TIME LIMIT for finals? Is that winners, losers, grand finals, or all 3? I'm pretty certain that no REAL tournament would ever dream of running this kind of setup. No time limit takes out the time constraints purposefully set in place to eliminate turtling the entire round. I could only imagine a match where 2 e.hondas are sitting there holding down back for 5 minutes scared to move. Marvel matches take long enough as it is let alone with no time constraints. This is a joke! There is no other explanation for this other than a prank lol

Check out that link. Gootecks Boxer vs Mike Ross Honda. Gootecks got like 2 hits and won but keep in mind that was WITH a time limit. Imagine if both players could sit there and just wait each other out for 30 minutes. I absolutely mean no disrespect to you guys, and I understand how time constraints can hinder an event. However, any actual fight game player will know that this "time constraint" and even more so the rules are complete trash. Look at 98% of the worlds "average" tournaments and I guarantee you will NEVER see a fighting tournament with single match only with the exception of certain Japanese tournaments which you actually have to qualify for. I don't know about you but this may be a matter of time constraint and convenience for the organizers, but its definitely not fair to the players. I've played in New York, New Jersey, and Florida tournament SCENES with many top players. And when asked if they had ever seen a tournament with double elimination single matches, I had replies consisting of "are you serious?!? shut up you're lying", or numerous questions to if the organizers were involved in consumption of illegal substances lol. What further baffled them as well as myself, was the rule of no time limit. By no means am I a pro player or top level organizer. But I have been around long enough to know that this is nowhere close to being considered a normal tournament. I'm excited to see how this event eventually turns out (Yes I will be in attendance and participating) but if this is the standard in which you guys base your events, I can no longer support or promote your event to any players or other communities.

Okay to start answering you all. I will be running the Tekken 6 and UMvC3 tournaments, I cannot comment on how Mortal Kombat and SSF4AE will be run the day of.

Absence of Color all the fighter tournaments will be on PS3 just like EVO.

Shinigaminoryu we do not publish the prizes for any tournaments other than the plague that each 1st thru 3rd winner recieves. We do this because we don't want attendees signing up for a tournament just for the prize. But I can tell you that after I sent out a billion emails to get sponsoring we have some very cool prizes in store for everyone.

Hollywood2DF where do I start... if you would read the room assigned to the tournaments you would notice that Tekken 6 and SSF4AE are in different rooms, so they are on different time schedules. I will be running Tekken 6 and UMvC3 double elmination, 2/3 matches, and with no time limit in the Grand Final round. If that was confusing I am sorry. I have been to a lot of tournaments in my day and I know how they go down.

Thanks for your feedback guys hope to see you all there!

Just something else to keep in mind other than the obvious time restraints between tournaments but we also do like to get tournaments done so maybe people can have a little Free Play time so it is not entirely for organizer convenience.

Despite everything I am looking forward to this. I recently just picked up Marvel so i'm not sure how much competition I will be, but apparently there is a lot of good dudes showing up. Should be really fun
