2. In the case of a Computer/Monitor malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning.

3. If a Player fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of the announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game. 10 minutes after the announcement, a Player will Forfeit their Match. If both Players Forfeit their Match, the higher seeded Player will win the Match.

4. Players may be disqualified if they leave their Station without their Referee’s permission, or are otherwise unable to play. Referees may set a time limit for a Player who has requested that they be allowed to leave their Station, however, Referees may also deny a Player’s request to leave their Station. Players may be disqualified if they haven’t returned by the end of the Referee’s set time limit.

5. In order to dispute Game results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game. In order to dispute Match results, Players must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match. Players must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Game before a new Game has begun. Players must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director.

Gameplay

1. No Pausing a Game without Referee’s permission. If an issue arises that requires a Pause, Players should contact their Referee immediately. Referees may approve or deny a Player’s request to Pause the Game. Pausing a Game without Referee’s permission will result in a Warning. If a Player receives a 2nd Warning they will Forfeit their current Game

2. Players may not look at an opposing Player’s Monitor or projected screen.

3. Players may not chat in-game unless they are engaging in pre-game sportsmanship or surrendering the Game.

4. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from the Event, and ejection from the venue.

5. The Map for Game 1 of each Match will be selected by CGS and announced prior to the Event.

6. The loser of a Game must select the Map for the next Game.

7. No Map may be played more than once in the same Best of 3 Game Match, or in the Finals.

8. The loser of a Game may select a different Race for the next Game.

9. Players who quit out of a Game before it has ended, without Referee’s permission, will lose the Game.

10. Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.

11. The higher seeded Player must host all Games in a Match. However, if a Match is broadcast, an observer will host all Games in the Match.

12. Only CGS Staff members may connect to the server as an observer. Inviting someone to observe a Match without Referee’s permission will result in a Warning. If a Player receives a 2nd Warning they will Forfeit their current Game

13. If a Player loses their connection to the Host during a Game, the Game must be replayed.

14. If an observer loses their connection to the Game, but both Players remain in the Game, the Game must continue.

15. The higher seeded Player must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Player must play as the Blue team.

>Steppes of War
>Lost Temple

So are these finalized or could we as a community decide on some changes? I'm not opposed to practicing on these older maps, but I think people would be happier if we could update. :)

Everything is always up for discussion we kinda depend on the community to give us guidance and that's why we have the forums!

Let us know what changes need to be made and we will do the best we can.

Unfortunately this is a student run event and as you know people graduate and get jobs and move away. We have only 1-2 years for each group of students.

Thanks,
Michael

Cool, I totally understand.

These maps haven't been used in ladder play and in most tournament play for the past 3ish ladder seasons:

Blistering Sands
Delta Quadrant
Desert Oasis
Lost Temple
Steppes of War

These maps are still used in both ladder and some tournaments:

Xel’Naga Caverns
Metalopolis

In my opinion, we should at least remove these outdated maps and replace them with common maps that are currently both ladder maps and tournament maps. These additional maps include:

Antiga Shipyard
Shakuras Plateau
Tal'darim Altar LE
The Shattered Temple

I don't know if others will want more maps such as GSL maps but I think the map pool should at least be:

Xel'Naga Caverns
Metalopolis
Antiga Shipyard
Shakuras Plateau
Tal'darim Altar LE
The Shattered Temple

Just my opinion though, we shall see what others think, especially the ECU kids. :)

definitely play with the updated ladder maps. The old maps were taken out due to imbalance and rightly so. a more updated map pool will make for better matches. I intend on competing this year, which will be my first time, and I want it to be a good experience. If any additional information is needed please dont hesitate to ask. I may not be awesome at the game but knowledge about what can be done is there. Also, will personal streaming be an option if the Tournament isn't being streamed itself? Options like twitch.tv and things like that could be an idea. For my friends that won't be attending im sure they would like to watch me lose, and on a stretch maybe even win a game :)

xel'naga caverns
antiga shipyard
metalopolis
shakuras plateau
tal darim altar le
and shattered temple.

Dual sight is a good addition to the map pool but these standard ladder maps should all be in the pool as well. Without a good variety, when people take a map away from the pool you're left with VERY few maps if there isn't enough to chose from. just a suggestion.

Currently I think this is the best map pool and should be used. Just make sure you edit the main post changing it.

Ok guys, the post is now edited. I couldn’t do it because I have an issue with my account, but one of the moderators fixed it for me. We cannot add the “No rush 20” rule because it would take too much time for all of the matches to end, plus its not a tournament ideal rule.

Would a double elimination tournament be possible? Last year the finals ended around 3:30ish and I know one person in particular would've definitely gotten 2nd or 3rd if there was double elimination.

Also I did not find anything about choosing a first map, I suggest the tournament does a veto off (where each person vetos a map until only one is left and that is the starting map. Then the loser of the previous map gets to choose the next map.

Actually I was thinking about making it double elimination, but it depends on the size of the room. I'll get to it today, and I will post if I can or not.

Thanks for looking in to that. Also for the starting map I think it would be better if we used the veto system to decide it so the starting map doesn't favor one race or the other

Just throwing out there that I am soooo psyched about this event. haha xD

But yea, I agree with the map pool posted above and the veto off rule.

NR 20 was a troll post I think. :P

On rule 8 I want to get clarification. Only the loser can swap races?

Yes, only the loser can swap races. The reason for that, is so that if the winner of that round was Zerg, for example, the loser of that round would feel that they should transition from Protoss to Terran, or from Terran to Zerg, etc.

And GxZ, I will implement the Veto System into the tournament, but each player gets one veto per Match, so be careful what map you veto.

I still think double elim would make for a better tournament. First time going here but if you guys would be able to do it, then I would say double elim would be the best way to go.
