Hey guys Sami Pickard here, your Halo tournament director sorry that it has taken a while for the rules to get posted up, but here are the rules/settings, and round by round gametypes for the Halo Reach 4 v 4 tournament. Also I will highlight that everything will be ZBNS (Zero Bloom/No Sprint)

Now from what I understand that MLG is currently has no offical gametypes/settings for 2012 season at this time and that the ZBNS settings are in the testing process but most likely is what MLG is going to go with next year. So for now that is what we are going to go with, ZBNS and v6 MLG Maps. Which are:

MLG The Pit v6.1
MLG Sanctuary v6.1
MLG Nexus v6
MLG Oasis v6
MLG Zealot v6
MLG Countdown v6

Posted below are the 11 gametypes we will be using:

MLG Team Slayer ZBNS

- Countdown
- Oasis
- Sanctuary
- Zealot
- The Pit

MLG 5 Flag ZBNS (with return)

- Countdown
- Zealot

MLG 5 Flag ZBNS (with 15 sec Flag reset)

- The Pit

MLG 3 Flag ZBNS (with 15 sec Flag reset)

- Sanctuary

MLG KOTH ZBNS

- Oasis
- Nexus

To download all maps and gametypes go here:

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileShare.aspx?player=Kalvin%20FTW
Or if you are on your XBox, File Share Search: Kalvin FTW

*Please note that even if CGS is in the gametype name for downloading there is no change at all from the MLG setting it is the same thing. To be plain and simple we just wanted to add our name since it's our event.

This will be a single elimination tournament up to 16 teams max.

Order of Play

Round 1 - Top 16

Round 2 - Top 8

Round 3 - Top 4

Consolation 1 - Losers from Round 3 to determine 3rd Place Finisher.

Round 4 - Top 2 (Finals)

__________________________________________________________________________

Round 1 (Split Screen)

-Game 1 - Slayer on Zealot

Round 2 (Split Screen)

-Game 1 - Slayer on Countdown
-Game 2 - CTF on Countdown
-Game 3 - Slayer on Zealot

Round 3

-Game 1 - Slayer on The Pit
-Game 2 - CTF on Sanctuary
-Game 3 - Slayer on Oasis

Consolation

-Game 1 - CTF on The Pit
-Game 2 - Slayer on Countdown
-Game 3 - King on Oasis

Round 4

-Game 1 - King on Nexus
-Game 2 - Slayer on Sanctuary
-Game 3 - CTF on Countdown
-Game 4 - CTF on Zealot
-Game 5 - Slayer on The Pit

The only outside equipment you will be allowed will be your controller if you wish to bring one. You will use our provided headsets.
If MLG comes out with either new gametypes and/or settings and/or maps we will review according.
If you have more questions please leave a message in the forum. Thanks and see you guys on Feb 4th.

I'm pretty sure no one wants to play sprint/bloom
mlg will be switching to those settings (didn't switch mid season b/c they wanted to finish on those settings)
No one can play on these settings you posted b/c no longer in playlist unless you play customs. And no one wants to play under these settings anymore.

If enough ppl post or something can we plz try to change or update these settings. I know MLG has updated gametypes which they use online in the playlist.

I covered this in my FFA post but since some people may not look there I am going to be redundant and post some of the same things here. I will be downloading the game types for the tournaments. I'm sorry about the link also. I can' t seem to get in to edit the post right now. Give me till Tuesday and I should have something more concrete up. As I said in FFA there will not be any sprint/bloom. I'll also post the maps that will be played on Tuesday. Again hang in there with me while I get this all settled and managed out. :)

Another thing that should/needs to be addressed is the bracket/way its run.
The last couple of years it been ran awful...
A suggestion would be, whoever signs up first gets #1 seed and so on from there. If there was 32 teams then #1 seed plays #32, #2 seed plays #31 seed and so on. That would make it easy and hopefully pretty simple. Last time you just walked in to play, and some ppl would wait in line and then told everything was full (making them waste there time)
And last time a team was told to just wait, and then couldn't play. But the team was trying to go first to make sure they were ok, and turns out one of them couldn't play b/c he didn't sign up right (then one of the ref ppl said one of the computers wasn't working...) And one member of that team wasn't refunded...

Hi again Fiasco

Let me begin with my brackets. I've always seeded my brackets like you suggested. I take the 1st on the list and pair them with the last one the list and so on and so forth. So seeding will be not a problem. Next thing is, tournament will begin at 1pm so that gives everyone time to meet up get teams together and have it registered so I will have a list posted of who will be going up against who in the first round and when you need to be there. If no one shows up when it's time then an alternate team will be able to play. If your not there and ready to play when it's time to start tough cookies. I'll have my list printed out of who is registered online ahead of time so I will not have the problem that was ran into last year with servers going down and no one knowing who was registered. In case of computer failure I will have no problem with hand registering I just would rather everyone go through the proper channels first. If that fails though I will consider on a case by case basis hand registering people.

after a conversation with Kalvin, it was brought to my attention that we will not be able to use our own controllers? I can understand the headsets and thats fine, but a controller is a vital piece of equipment that every gamer uses. This tournament is put on by gamers and for gamers, atleast thats how its been in the past.

With that being said, i understand the time constraints that you are under but you have made a buffer between each match that allows people to sit at station and get ready. once you call a team to the station, give them a certain amount of time. if you give them 5 mins then they have that long to sit down, change settings and do whatever they want, at the end of 5 mins the host starts the game if every1 is ready or not. I worked all events this year for MLG as a ref and that was 1 of the responsibilities.

Controllers take 10 secs to plug in. if anything dont let people change there names and stuff, let them change their call signs and controller button layout.

plugging in a controller shouldnt take more than 2 seconds...I dont see the issue with using our own controller.

If we cant use our own, I would like my $10 back plz.

Well here we go again. Once u think that CGS has everything right something is found out that just isnt right.

It has been brought to my attention that we are not going to be aloud to use our own controllers or headsets at this event. My first question is why? The heart and soul of every gamer that plays at a competitive level is he/her controller. In the past at this event we have had settings messed up, hardheaded tournament directors, every other tv different from the other, people traveling all the way from morehead city only to find out that they can not take part is the tournament because it was already full and they didnt know that they could per register on this site, etc. Now let me ask the staff this. Why do you think there isn't already 6 to 7 other teams already signed up for Halo right now like there has been every year since this started back in 05, 06? its because of all of the above bad things continue to happen over and over and over again. However, we (as continue supporters of CGS Halo) have notice that all of the above problems in the past have been taken care of and we thank all of u for listening and putting up with us but this one would honestly take the cake. Right now there is 0 registered teams on the site and 8 in ffa the lowest ever. All of the above means nothing if we as competitive gamers can't have our weapon. Our controller. I also heard that we are also not aloud to use our owe headsets. I am a bit itchy about that as well but i understand that a fine substituted will be provided so that bad but not as bad.

As of right now I know of 3 teams that will be on the site and ready to go my Weds. but all will go away if they can't use their own controllers. so that's $120 dollars gone that you guys could have made. if these 3 teams have coaches (which i know mine will) than thats another $30. I plan on bring friends and family to the event as well just to watch cause they don't get to travel around the country and see what I do with MLG this is the only place for them to do it so that's another 70$. So all in all from my group $220 gone.

I hope that something as sample as un pluggin and re pluggin a controller can be dealt with in a timely fashion before i decide to request a refund.

Thanks for your time.

Well as you know from being so involved with MLG that MLG has it's own standards for allowed controllers. The controllers at the event last time were completely fine (I may be wrong, but I didn't notice slow-turn, at least not in my controller). MLG doesn't allow certain types of controllers to be used (like the ONZA). This is a way of streamlining the process for players and tournament organizers. MLG wouldn't pay for ~300 controllers because that is extremely cost ineffective for them, but if they had the money, to lower the presence of cheating, they would do so I'm sure of it.

Sure, plugging in a controller takes 2 seconds, but the outcome of allowing everyone to bring their controllers to a smaller tournament of this size compared to the intensely regulated MLG, is asking for trouble.

Not all tournaments are on MLG level. This tournament is a great thing and the fact that it has been going this long is really nice. You trying to compare MLG and it's big bankroll and large amount of refs to a grassroots tournament like this is biased and doesn't have the validity it needs.

This is coming from someone who has went to MLG events for the past 3 years as both a spectator and player.

So in all, be grateful that this tournament is happening and even gives your team chance to earn local recognition, because that's simply what this is meant to be, a local tournament. While, yes, it doesn't use MLG style rules to an exact copy, they still put on a great time for their competitors and $10 is easily worth it to someone who is even remotely interested in competitive gaming or esports. GLHF and I hope your team shows (and does well at that) and gives this tournament the respect it deserves, regardless of the money you invest in it.

There is nothing wrong with our controllers, they are brand new, I will be taking them out of the box the night before the event. There is no reason why there should be any complaining about using a brand new controller! I'm sorry but I still stand firm on my point. This is something I will not change. Our equipment will be the equipment used. It's just something that will cause more trouble than it's worth. The controller does NOT make the gamer. If you need a special controller to be a better gamer, and can't use standard equipment then why are you playing? I'm sorry again that this is causing you so much anguish but again, I'm firm on this. No outside equipment.

but would you rather use your own controller is the question. the only thing i am comparing CGS and MLG by is the time constraints. it takes a miniumum time to plug in a controller and set up the match.

also MLG does have controllers for the ones that show up to events that dont know to bring their own or the ones that show up not knowing how it works, that goes for the PS3 and 360 tournaments. the norm is to bring your own controller. they also have mice/keyboards for the ones who dont know to bring their own for starcraft.

I dont see the big deal with not letting the players use their own controllers. I would help keep track of controllers that they supply even when im not playing if the lack of wanting more responsibility or the trouble of keeping up with them is what the issue is. I have ended up helping with every CGS I have attended 07 08 09 and the director has been very helpful.

this same issue was dealt with in the H2 days where they had controllers and some of the didnt work. I know mine works, so let me take the 2 seconds to unplug your and plug mine in.

well if you are going to be that way, can you get Mike to contact me and I would like a refund of my 10$, because at then end of the day I dont see the benefit to driving 2 hours to not get a lan in with my own controller.

I know about 6-8 others who will now not purchase the pass and attend.

just wondering what background do you have in competitive gaming? you have switched from DDR to a console shooter the controller makes the difference.

the controllers right out of the box are the problem...

The microsoft controllers have a problem with the sensitivity in both sticks, I know mine doesnt slow turn as do the ones that would be attending.

what is your reasoning for not letting every1 use their own?

Mike,

if you see this I would like a refund of my ticket as I will not be attending this year due to tournament settings. you know how this ended up in 07 because of something so small that went against the norm. I will just not spend my saturday at CGS

if you are not apart of a competitive community and you play socially then you probably havent heard of this, but I will leave this link here and you can watch it and see why most if not all players would rather use their controller that isnt faulty

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XynhCwBqWjc&feature=player_embedded#!

Im not asking to use a special controller, Im asking to use mine as are the majority of the players that will be attending. the community of gamers is what powers these events, so why not let the players use their own controllers.

also to ask me why do I even play? I play because I enjoy it I enjoy the competitiveness of it and to be around friends, but at the end of the day the controller is what a player is used to, just as a ball player uses a certain glove or a certain bat, the controller is the players

Also to Pyro-
MLG did allow onza controllers at events once they were released. just thought I would let you know that.

I am outraged by your responses to our rules. Listen we are not MLG we are a event and we make the rules im sorry calvin we provide everyone with the same controllers, the same experience to allow one to use a controller would call for everyone to want to use there controllers, which in term calls for stupidity to happen, THEREFORE delaying the tournament and making others wait.

FOLLOW OUR RULES AND WE WILL RESPECT YOU BY OFFERING THIS EVENT TO YOU AND PUBLIC RECOGNITION!

-Good day
