54 Sports LLC and Carolina Games Summit are partnering to host an online Fortnite tournament benefiting Atrium Health Foundation. The one day tournament will take place Saturday, October 31.

Participants will be asked to make a nominal donation to play and will compete for a variety of prizes that have been donated from corporate sponsors. Additionally players and non-players will have the option to make a direct donation to Atrium Health Foundation, as well as purchase raffle tickets for additional prizing opportunities.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Atrium Health Foundation to help support the work of Atrium Health physicians, nurses, research scientists and other talented healthcare providers who are dedicated to providing health, hope and healing for all.

"It’s generous support from community partners like 54 Sports, LLC that continues to enhance Atrium Health’s efforts to fulfill its mission of providing the best care to all," said Armando Chardiet, President of Atrium Health Foundation. "We are grateful to benefit from this gaming event, which provides a safe platform for people to support our caregivers."

“Earlier this year, 54 Sports LLC hosted the largest esports event in Charlotte, NC to date. Our goal was to host an additional three events this year, but like many businesses and organizations, we have had to postpone our original plans, says Mark Surles, founder and CEO of 54 Sports LLC. “In the meantime, our team is dedicating their resources towards creating online esports tournaments with the goal of raising funds and awareness for non-profit organizations. Atrium Health Foundation is critically important in supporting healthy communities throughout the Carolinas and Georgia, and we could not be more excited to harness the power of the gaming community in an effort to raise valuable funds for our local healthcare heroes.

"The Carolina Games Summit is excited to work with 54 Sports to produce an online Fortnite tournament that will advance health-related services in the Carolina’s through the Atrium Health Foundation," states Michael Everett, Creative Director of the Carolina Games Summit. “This is a great opportunity for gamers to give back while doing what they love in a safe environment."

SANTA MONICA, CA – AUGUST 18, 2020 – Red Bull North America, Inc., in partnership with the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) announced today that the ultimate League of Legends® (LoL) 1v1 experience, Red Bull Solo Q, is now open for registration!¥Today, amateur players from the United States and Canada can sign up online to compete against thousands of others in the first qualifier on August 30, 2020. The winner of the qualifier will secure a spot in the respective U.S. and Canada Finals. "There are multiple ways that players can win in Red Bull Solo Q which definitely makes for a wide variety of gameplay," says Red Bull gaming athlete KayPea. "Some people try to win with mechanics and outplaying or by getting first turret; I personally live for the duel aspect of the 1v1. I love seeing what players are capable of from a mechanical point of view."

Red Bull Solo Q allows fans to make their mark by bringing LoL players to new heights! In a world where LoL is traditionally played in a 5v5 team setting, Red Bull Solo Q will settle the score and showcase individual skill with a 1v1 gameplay format. Amateurs face-off in the top lane of Summoner’s Rift and can claim victory by being the first player to get two kills under seven minutes, or one kill after seven minutes, destroying the opposing player’s outer turret, or achieving a 100-minion creep score first.

In celebration of the tournament, Red Bull recently released all-new Red Bull Solo Q Limited Edition cans featuring LoL champions Conqueror Alistar and Yasuo. Each can includes a special code on the tab that, beginning August 31, 2020, unlocks access to the upcoming Red Bull Solo Q leaderboard – offering consumers an additional path to enter the competition and a unique Summoner Icon (limit one per person) (additional details to come at a later date).* The new Red Bull Solo Q Limited Edition cans are currently available at retailers nationwide for a limited time and while supplies last.

The Carolina Games Summit will feature a session titled: “Streaming 101” hosted by several local streamers from around the Triangle, on Saturday, February 1st at 7pm at The Maxwell Center in Goldsboro, NC. The panel will also be streamed live at www.twitch.tv/cgs

TheHighHeeledGamer has been streaming for about 3 years now. She started off on Twitch but has since moved to YouTube. She has played a variety of games and mostly plays with her gaming crew, the Couchmen. Businesswomen and entrepreneur, TheHighHeeledGamer attends conventions from around the state to build her audience, she also is an avid writer and cosplayer.

“I started streaming in the past year. I first started by streaming through the Twitch app on Playstation and eventually moved to use a capture card and PC. This took a little bit of time as I pieced together my parts for my PC as they went on sale, didn't have that much extra money to spend. During this time I researched what was best for streaming and the different methods more experienced streamers used. At first, it was intimidating there was so much to this world I didn't know, but as I streamed more it has become more natural.” - RunninBull

“I started streaming to get more comfortable with public speaking. Streaming is one of the hardest performance mediums on the planet: There is no physical audience in the room to bounce energy off, and all the pressure is on you. I love the challenges that streaming presents as well as the people I've met through streaming! I love playing interactive community games and diving into performance art on my Twitch channel!” - MikkiMarvel

Jeffrey Johnson is one of many who felt the Jaguar video game console could do much more than the original equipment manufacturer Atari was able to accomplish in the mid-90s. He will discuss this topic and homebrew development in general at the upcoming Carolina Games Summit on Saturday, Feb 2nd. In addition, his company, Wave 1 Games, will also be exhibiting the console, allowing players a hands-on look at the Jaguar and their new releases on the platform.

Like the Dreamcast console for Sega, the Jaguar represents the final console Atari was able to produce before exiting the market entirely. Luckily for fans of both consoles, the homebrew community could not be stronger for these systems. From programming and box art creation to the cartridge production these die-hard fans and their companies go the extra distance to produce high-quality work that in many cases exceed what large companies and large budgets could do during the consoles release cycle.

“Atari Jaguar is one of those consoles that was misunderstood in its day and 25+ years later is just now starting to reach its full potential,” said Michael Everett, Creative Director, Carolina Games Summit. “We are excited to have Jeffrey Johnson discuss how he is pushing the console to new heights long after the intended development cycle has ended.”

“As long as fans still support the Jaguar Wave 1 Games will be on the prowl delivering new and exciting games!” said Jeffrey Johnson, Owner Wave 1 Games, “We are excited to showcase our homebrew titles and the Jaguar console at the Carolina Games Summit”

Each Jaguar project has been something previously unseen on the platform. As Lead Graphic Designer, Lorena Munoz, creates the game manuals, box art, and any assets necessary to bring a complete product to market. Lorena studied graphic design and arts at Central Piedmont Community college and her skillset enhances the brand and brings more people to the platform.
