Entertainment System Band
Formed in 2005, Entertainment System has grown from an instrumental garage band to a polished rock and metal machine creating tracks based on classic 8 and 16-bit video game music. The band's first album, The Computer Always Cheats, was released in 2006, featuring set list staple "Bloody Tears". Super Entertainment System, featuring Matt Pie and Jeff Hammer on drums and bass, was released at ES's annual VGM extravaganza, 16-Bit Gen, in 2007. The album was a vast improvement over their freshman release, containing standout tracks "Kirby's Dreamland" and "Tetris".
Current bassist Tyler Merchant and drummer Andy Porter joined guitarists Chris Baines, JD DeCampos and Rex Anderson in 2008 while the band prepared for their junior release, Entertainment System 64. This album redefined the band's sound, featuring their most eclectic song choices to date and complex but tasteful arrangements. Fan favorites "Earthbound", "Final Fantasy" and "River City Ransom" rounded out the decidedly obscure track listing. The album debuted at 32-Bit Gen held at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore. Following the new lineup's explosive set, the five went on their first East Coast tour with VGM comrades The Megas. The tour was a success and a pact was entered into. The groups are now working on a joint E.P., Megatainment, based off the soundtrack to Mega Man 1. A West Coast tour is planned to follow Megatainment's release.
