Experience music from video games like you never have before as bands bring new life to your favorite tracks live.
Rare Candy Band
Location: Auditorium
Time: 2:00-3:30pm
Rare Candy, based in Baltimore, MD, have played MAGFest, Otakon and 64-bit Gen, as well as a handful of other venues and conventions. They stray away from the more popular guitar, bass, and drums formula that most bands use and instead institute a blend of insane dueling keyboards and fast paced rhythms. With crowd favorites like “Dark World” from Zelda 3, and “Undersea Palace” from Chrono Trigger, you'll be taken back to your old memories of sitting in front of your Super NES with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after watching hours of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles . Band members include Chris Baines and John DeCampos (of Entertainment System fame), Dom Cerquetti (founder of JamSpace) and some guy named Matt Baros.
Entertainment System Band
Location: Auditorium
Time: 6:00 - 7:30pm
Since it's formation in 2004, 37 people have been members of Entertainment System. Some people, and 99% of witch doctors, say that the band is cursed; however, founding guitarists, John DeCampos and Chris Baines (and sycophantic bass player Tyler Merchant) find the idea ridiculous, as they believe that in order to be cursed you must have a soul. ES turns your favorite old school game music into heavy hitting rock/metal arrangements. This will be the band's second year performing at CGS and they look forward to introducing its two newest members, Jon Smeltzer and Brandon Wildman. Keep an ear open for their fifth studio album, "Rock n' Roll Cereal," coming out this summer.
