Team Fortress 2 4v4 Tournament
Maps that will be played are King of the Hill maps. Teams will fight in 4 vs 4 teams. First team to win 2 points out of 3 wins.

Rules

-Stock weapons only; no weapon unlocks allowed

-Map/Game exploits are not allowed
*This includes sliding off an edge while taunting, so you'll be doing the taunting animation while moving. This can conceal what weapon you're equipped with.

-Hats and misc items are not allowed (This due to spies not wearing any sort of cosmetics when disguising as a class that is not being played)

-If any player obtains any items, they must NOT equip it

-Class limit of 1 for each class
*You can switch classes at any time, but be sure to let your own team know so they won't end up choosing the same class as you.

-Spawn camping is not allowed. What counts as spawn camping is
*Building sentries in front of enemy team spawn
*Staying near / sniping at the enemy spawn point for the sake of ambushing or shooting enemies as soon as they exit the spawn point
*Constantly shooting directly into the enemy team's spawn
*Shooting sticky bombs right in front of the spawn doors

-Team text chat is allowed
*Public text chat is allowed, but no flooding the chat or disrespecting the players.

-Only tournament moderators and streamers may join spectators

-Players may only use the steam accounts provided in the tournament area, but you may change the steam name through the settings.

-Players are allowed to bring their own keyboard and mouse, but not headsets. You may only use headsets provided by the tournament.

-You must have 4 players on a team.
*If a team member gets disqualified, a team can still compete. However, if two team members gets disqualified, the team can no longer participate.

Server Options

-sv_pure will be set to 2 (disables player spray paints and custom content)
-tf_weapon_criticals will be set to 0 (disables random critical hits, the ability to do triple damage at random)
-sv_alltalk will be set to 0 (voice communications will only go to your own team)
-tf_damage_disablespread will be set to 1 (disables random damage spread)
-tf_use_fixed_weaponspreads will be set to 1 (disables random bullet spread)

These rules and settings can be changed as we refine the tournament. I'll keep you updated as soon as I can!

Hats and misc items aren't allowed because when spy disguises as an enemy or class that is not being played, he does not wear any hats or misc items. Due to this, people would be able to immediately identify that there's a spy because he's not wearing any hats or misc items.

Not that I am concerned about the hat rule, but: That actually isn't true, spies can and will copy the hat of another player player. I have seen that spies will completely copy the loadout/appearance of the player they disguise as, given there is a player of the same class as the spy's chosen disguise.

A question: Are stock weapons with a description (or name) tag okay? The stats and appearance are identical, only the description has changed. I want to ask now before I play and get DQ'ed because my gun had a description tag on it, which would be silly.

so 1 more question. how will teams be determined. like will we have to bring our own team or will it be random or if a player has no team will he just be slotted to a team.

Hats and misc items are not allowed because if someone announces that they have found a hat and have equipped it, but then switches classes, a Spy could disguise as that player's previous class and would immidiately be recognized as a Spy since they wouldn't have their loadout.

And I do not believe nametags would be a problem, but I haven't really found a reason to use them anyway.

Teams will need to be made before the tournament by the players.However, if a player does not have enough members in their team, or is the only one in their team, we will attempt to use the incomplete teams to create full teams.

@Surfdudeboy - Don't worry about renamed and described stock weapons. Since they don't alter the weapon's appearance, they're fine (plus, you can't see other people's renamed items unless the freeze cam shows it or if you spectate them, as far as I am aware). The same holds true for strange stock weapons, they are allowed as well. Reskins, like the Apoco Fists or Festive weapons, are not since that it has the same problems as hats (Spies not equipping them if disguised as a class not being played)

Sadly we cannot allow an over the internet tournament due to our need to make the server private. If we released the sever password, players from outside the tournament would be able to join in.

I'm not affiliated with CGS but I know that Computers will be provided. not sure about headsets.

Custome cfgs could include TF2 scripts... May I ask that the server be set to "sv_allow_wait_command 0" to disable all of the tf2 scripts that use wait commands?

Or just state in the rules that scripts are illegal.

The cfg's are not for me but a friend that may attend. As far as I know it not for scripts but he uses a ESDF instead of WASD key layout

We will allow the keyboard layout to be changed to your pleasing, but other configs are forbidden.

Headsets, mice, keyboards, computers, and monitors will all be provided.

Couple questions:

I'm assuming custom huds are out of the question if we're unable to edit our cfgs, but is everything outside of the in-game options going to be locked via the rules?

Will our sensitivity and dpi be able to be changed?

And in addition to weaponcriticals_0 and sv_pure 2, will tf_use_fixed_weaponspreads 1 be enabled?

For custom HUDs, I'm afraid it can't be used due to sv_pure being set to 2. It disables custom HUDs as well. However, if it helps, you are allowed to switch to minimal HUD via advanced options. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@Vaah - You are allowed to change the DPI and sensitivity. And if the in-game options for changing the sensitivity can't go high enough for you, you can change it via console commands. Example, typing sensitivity 14.0 in the console to go over the limit is allowed, since technically that is considered in-game.

Also, I almost forgot about weapon spreading as well as damage spreads. Yes, those will be disabled. Weapon spreads will be fixed as well as damage amounts.

@Belarus - Well, it depends. First, enter what tournament you're most interested in. Then if the other tournament you wanted to enter isn't full we can add you to that one the day of the event.
