With 16 teams I understand time comes into play, but having a single elimination tournament in an LoL game seem a bit unfair to me anyway.
There has been information stated that Blue side actually has a better advantage over the Purple side.
I was wondering if it would be better to have a best of 3, pool type of format. 4 teams in a pool play a round robin. If you have a full 16 entries it will be a total of 6 matches per pool, total of 24 matches during pool phase.
This would give each team 3 matches in the pool, each team getting a chance to play on the blue side and purple side. Then you would take the top teams in each pool, number 1 team. (Tie record would be given to the head to head match up)
The top 4 teams could play a bracket type format of best of 3. This way the game isn't purely based on champion selection, (Because unless everyone does research on the competition you get the standard bans).
Just feel pools would give teams a better feel and each team could get a bit more research on each team. I think this gives everyone a more competitive feel, instead of it just feeling like a team ranked game that you just play online. |

How do i join an incomplete team, I just bought tickets and trying to sign up, but ya asking for a password. Any help would be great.
Also read teh rules, if we bring our own headsets are we able to install the drivers or what? Not worried about mice or kb drivers as profiles are saved on them (at least mine anyways) so w/ out drivers dpi settings etc are save.

You need to get the password from whoever made the team.
And I too hope that they let us install drivers for headsets so I can use my USB pair! |

Is there any way to get another room or something? Doing single elim best of one is not really a good way of running a tournament. I understand that it's a time issue but after looking at the signups we have one of the largest number of competitors so I don't see why we couldn't get another room with more computers. Even if going to Best of 3 after like the first round or something would be good. But if you want a well run tournament doing it the way you are now isn't the way to do it. Either way I'm looking forward to this Saturday!

Simple thing would be since we have approximately 30 Computers and 16 teams. Split teams into groups. Then go as followed. Group A Team 1 and 2 play one another. Group A Team 3 and 4 play. Group B Team 1 and 2 are playing first. Then keep the cycle going. If a team loses twice in group they are out automatically. If you can open another room and have a couple more PCs we can have another 2 matches going same time give or take. Should take about the same length. After Group Play you should only have 4 teams remaining. Group A vs. Group D winner. Group B vs. Group C winner. You can decide if you want best of one or best of 3 after that if you want. We have 7 hrs we should be able to get in more then enough matches. |

My post was about the pool team format. Building the tournament most based around how they did the NA Quailifiers, pools and then bracket.
Just the argument from me is the fact that champion selection and knowing the other team plus blue side over purple side stats, are very important to how you actually do. Must of the time a team gets beat just in champ selection alone. I think knowing that you have that second chance helps the players relax a bit and would make the tournament that much enjoyable.
With single elim everything is riding on that one game. That one team fight, that one baron, that one dragon. Being able to have that second chance, to go with a different team comp makes a world of difference. Having a second chance to ban champs that you now know the other team is very good with, these are the things that LoL tournaments revolve around, at least to me.
I feel the single elim will favor some teams over others. I think a fair tournament will bring people back to do more.
Looking from the support you already have for this one, you don't want to lose some of the support based on running a bad tournament for the first time. |

I would agree with you that single elimination is much harder to play. Sometime games are won off of a stupid mistake and the better team gets defeated, however you must keep in mind, they are trying to host a 16 team league of legends tourney (with hour 30 minute rounds) in one single day. It would be near impossible to have them manage to allow best of three matches under that small of a time constraint. And to be honest, I know this sounds harsh, but if you don't want to play a single elimination tourney, don't sign up for it...
-Edit: This is coming from someone who won the Escapist Expo LoL tourney. They had a lot of issues with time then as well, and they had 3 days to host it. We still got kicked out during the "awards ceremony" because they had to clean up the expo floor.
