Personally I think the DDR tournament went very well. But what I say doesn't matter. I want to know what everyone else thought about the tournament? I want to know what you want to see next year and what you don't want to see next year.

sup sam. you all did a great job. the only thing i wouldve liked was if it was in the auditorium again this year, but i know u guys had lots of tech problems the last time so its all good. impressive how u handled dealing with 3 finalists great ideas you had. and how u miraclulously arranged the matches. every match was so close within eachothers skill levels. it was a close match every match. now thats a good tournament. nothing i would really change here great job. and a special thx again from me. |

I want to see you as tournament director next year again, then I know it will be run very well for the 4th year in a row!
How would you guys like to compete on real DDR machines, I'm going to try and buy one before next year and get it permanently placed in WCCs lounge for year round events and practice.
Just let me know what games I need to be on the look out for.
When I go to sales they have like 10 different kinds of DDR and I'm all like WTF??
I even saw one one time that used all 8 arrows!!!

Real machines would be AWESOME!
Just make sure you don't get Pump It Up. : )
A lot of arcade machines run on Fedora/Red Hat, so if you have someone who knows the system well, they can also update the software and unlock everything for you. (I worked as a gameroom attendant at Chuck E. Cheese's for a year, and that was the most common operating system. |

she was the one who got second last year :p. the only thing about having a real machine is that those tend to have problems over time. it would be a shame for one to be messing up during a tournament because then what would you do. would have to cancel the tournament. i think it would be great for the school to get one however. the school can make some small money on it, but the biggest thing is that you would notice students getting into shape. ddr is one of the most active and physically demanding workouts you can do. |

If Wayne Community got a DDR machine, I'd probably drive from Kinston/Greenville to play on it (if they allowed public access). There's an arcade machine at the mall in Kinston, but it's overpriced and outdated.
I don't know much about the arcade machines, but I did compete in a tournament one time on the arcade versions and it was a lot of fun. Seems like the pads are somewhat more reliable on those. I'm not sure what pads were being used in the DDR tournament this year, but let's just say I really don't trust anything that isn't made of metal. |

I don't plan to rent, I plan to buy. I just really need advice on which machine to get. I think I will just try to pick one up and then upgrade it to whatever software everyone likes...
Or I may just load stepmania into the machine lol That would work.

The bad thing is the arcade sales I get this stuff from are only every other month and guess when the last sale was:
Yup January 26th 2008... I actually thought of calling someone and having them bid for me but there was no freaking way I was going to pick arcades up the Sunday after our event lol just too tired!

yeah, my comment about sam was a joke. i mean she is hot. but i know she directed it. and she won 2nd place last year, only beaten by a weird robotic redhead girl. but sam also did a great job directing it this year.

If by beaten by a weird robotic girl, you mean devastated by Andy Biz, a redheaded GUY from Virginia, then yes, you are correct. And robotic, rofl, people should get out and actually watch people who are decent at these games in arcades for once.

Hey Michael, listen do you think that maybe next time ya'll could get some pads that have handles in the back. You know (oh yeah, and this is Nick BTW) how good I am at playing DDR, but when I played I lost my sense of balance on those pads. The set-up was just awkward, for me at least. I'm sure a lot of people would love to have arcade-style DDR pads. |

I really am hoping to have a real arcade, to me Cobalt Flux pads are the closest you can get to the arcades without having a real arcade.
So the only upgrade from Cobalt Flux pads for me is a real $13,000 DDR machine...

stepmaniadude, no i wasnt talking about a redhead dude. but i may have been thinking of the ddr tournament 2 years ago, where the final round was sam vs the redhead chick. and she was definitely robotic.
