Just wanted some feedback on what everyone who has played in Gears for the past couple of years has thought about the rules and how they think they could be better. Sportsmanship rules are something I really want to hear about but feel free to point out what you liked/didn't like about any aspect of the rules or organization of the tournament. This will be greatly appreciated and should aid in 2009 being the best year for Gears yet. second place GoW 2008

I'd like to see trash-talking kept to a minimum. What I didn't like about Gears from what i saw was that instead of practicing good sportsmanship, the coaches and even players of some teams need to stfu.
It's okay to tell your team what to do or say motivating things, but when trash-talking is allowed, it really hurts the image and perceived maturity of gamers. |

I know this a little off topic but could we get a fan in the room cause it is hot up in there and you know how red I was. Of course I would like to see seperate tvs if possible, brackets done in order, nicer organizer which I know should be a problem with you, host has to keep extreme content on, no coaching, no derogatory language, round time should only be 3 or 4 minutes, add subway and maybe other maps. I also dont think everyone should have to be a different character. ICKY People: we got people, people, people, and people

Silly rules.
When i played in the tournament with my team (S2N) the director lady sat on our side.
She said that Sliding was against the rules of the tournament. And i don't mean weapon sliding, which is a glitch. I'm talking about legitimate sliding into a wall from about a foot away. She threatened to DQ my team for sliding into walls. Which if you play gears of war is a common practice to help you speed to an area.
So hopefully next year some silly things wont be paid as much attention too. and attention can be focused on better things like setting up a real bracket. GT- Eclipse958

OK hacker,
1) in football, there's something called plays. The QB calls these out because otherwise the rest of the team won't know what to do. The other members of the team are silent.
2) in basketball, when someone dunks, they celebrate, but they never talk about the other team.
If you were truly mature, you'd know a thing or 2 about sportsmanship, and how trashtalking is not it. Trashtalking is only in games where the lowliest and most worthless athletes/cyberatheletes play. Like Halo.
and don't think for one moment that it's what makes the game. You can talk trash all day, but in the end, it's the score that counts, and bad-mouthing someone just makes you sound like a retard.

Im talking about after a play, watch the guys run their mouths to each other....Its a way of getting into your opponents head, and you think that only the lowest people talk trash, Lets see only time that MLG has had to have Police at an event was Chicago because 2 gears teams got in a fight......
trash talk is a way to get into peoples heads, it happens in all major sports AIM- Professorpwns

Tiger Woods talking trash? No. Tennis players talking trash? No. Basketball players talk trash sometimes, but that usually leads to fights. Soccer players talking trash leads to headbutts. hockey trash talking leads to... actually fights in hockey just start spontaneously. anyways, in all those sports, trash-talking is frowned upon. |
