Can't we add something new to the mix? I'd like to see a more modern fps or rts game. I mean starcraft and quake 3 are great games but both are more than a decade old. I didn't enter the quake tournament last year so I won't bash it but TF2 is an awesome game as is warcraft 3. Aside from rock band, its been the same mix for three years. |

besides I personally would like to see a Left 4 Dead versers tournment.
I would in that with my SWAT like team. |

War3 is more modern than starcraft. Frozen Throne included btw. If this was Korea, I could understand wanting to play starcraft. And I can understand not being able to run tf2 on the college computers.
Maybe there could be an organized LAN party where people could all play TF on their own computers. Just a suggestion on the TF2 though, it's a fun game to play but I understand the requirements on it are pretty high.
How about Command and conquer, the main idea is lets mix this up. If you want to go backwards, lets play warcraft 2, starcraft is just played out. Trying not to be negative because starcraft is a good game but its been the only RTS for all the other tourneys and the game came out in like 96. Lets try something new please |

mix it up? hmmmmmm well C&C is a good one. to tell you the truth I'm not a big PC gamer since I never had a strong enough computer. I am really not playing any latest PC games until I make my own computer. But what would be a good mix to a PC tournament?

Maybe we can have 2 tournaments; 1 of Warcraft and 1 of Starcraft, they don't have to be mutually exclusive, but that's up to the oganizers. I'm also pretty sure that BW is still more popular than TFT by a longshot anywhere in the world. |

We have two PC rooms this year. 24 of the old school PCs that you have seen in the past then another room with brand new PCs. I am checking their specs now but I think TF2 will work.
The only thing I am working on now is trying to figure out licensing enough copies of the software to make this happen.
Thanks for your feedback! I am thinking WarCraft III Frozen Throne and TF2 will be the two PC tournaments this year. That will also allow us to give a dedicated room of PCs to each tournament.
Still working on getting a freeplay PC room hopefully by the Army again. I'll keep you all updated as that progresses!

That's what I was trying to get at, but I'm not sure if L3 will be hosting the PC portion or there will be a separate portion for L3 with Quake and SC.
There's TONS of SC players, and only a handful of Warcraft 3 players. I wouldn't mind wc3 being there, as long as SC is still there.
As for Quake and TF2, TF2 is a very fun game to play, but competitively, a tournament isn't practical. You need at LEAST 6v6 in TF2, and that's the main weakness of TF2 being used for any sort of competition.
At NC State people tried having a TF2 competition last year, and it was pretty funny: there were about 20 people that signed up, but that's not much of a tournament... so they just had 2 teams play 10v10, lol. and that was the tournament.
I think TF2 is a great game for free play, but considering it was a longshot getting people to play 5v5 CS 1.6 (which is a more popular game) for the past few years, I don't think 6v6 TF2 will be possible.
In fact, last year I talked with the people who do LagLessLan, and they said that they like CS better than Quake, but it's hard to find that many teams of 5 players, and so they decided to do Quake 2v2 TDM instead.
Anyways, if you do decide to have TF2 be a tournament instead of free play, registration is a must because it's hard to predict how many people have teams and whatnot. |

ok guys another idea, something I think will be pretty easy for us to do and will make FPS and RTS people happy hopefully :-)

Warcraft III Frozen Throne Tournament
AND
"next gen" PC Room:
Unreal III
Plus I hope to get the Army back for an America's Army PC room again but that is not 100% confirmed yet!

I am thinking it will have to be some non team type of tournament maybe a FFA not sure yet. Gotta do some research.
I hope to get a little support from Epic so it might bring a few more people out if they are behind it somewhat. We'll see.
If you can point me in the direction of some good rules that would rock!
