We provide prizes for tournaments, first you will receive a plaque that has been metal sublimated with a full color custom image for each tournament and place. I hope this weekend to have time to upload last years plaque images. They really are something that has to be seen to be believed.
Next we work with sponsors to supply prizes for each tournament. I am working on various things but can not announce anything at this time.
We tried cash in the past but it turned out to be a very bad idea. Now our tournaments are for fun and fame only.
We have a very large awards ceremony where everyone will be recognized.

Wouldnt money be better though, like you have that stuff but a small cash prize to go with it. I have friends coming from pretty far away to go to this and they were wondering about the cash prizes and what not. I am not saying it has to be like $1000 or anything but like something small to accomodate isn't a bad idea if you ask me. And I am suggesting for the bigger tournies. You know Halo 3 is going to bring in a lot so a cash prize will promote more people to come.

Last year the bigger prizes that are actually worth money were, sadly, only winnable through the lottery drawing. |

If it is going to be prizes besides money it needs to be something really good so that it is worth attending. Cuz I dont want to win not saying im going too and win a t-shirt |

Last year meeveret said that he was going to cut down on tournament prizes because he wanted to make them more for fun and bragging rights.
But I personally think this is a mistake, because it's impossible to have good players show up for a tournament without having good prizes. There's only a few really good gamers in each category from each game that live in this state, so in order to get the good players to come to the tournaments, there needs to be prizes that draw them in. And without good players at the tournament, there's a good chunk of players that won't be interested.
I'm going to say that there's a good chance that this year's attendance will be the first year where it falls compared to last year's, simply because of the lack of interest. |

I am telling you if they have prizes people will come, i am spreading this tourney all over xbox live. i have a friend come from PA just to play in the tourney because he thinks it is going to be good. If you make the prizes good more people will come. |

Me and my friends are getting a Rock Band team together, but we live two hours away (Wilmington). So I can say that personally, we're only going to make the trip if there is a prize worth winning, otherwise, we probably won't go. |

Sorry guys we have done cash prizes before and it is just better for everyone involved if we do not offer cash prizes. I could go into the reasons but we really don't have all night.
Also our event is here to promote all of gaming culture, design, and development while having fun doing it. We have already broke last years online pre-registration record and we still have 2 full weeks of registration to go. (Assuming we do not extend registration)
Our TV and Radio ads have not even started running so I feel confident we will meet our expected attendance of 1,250 - 1,500 just as we did last year.
I hope everyone will have fun at this years event, if you choose not to come because of prizes it will simply be your loss. This event is one of the largest up and coming events on the east coast and I promise you do not want to miss it.

I understand how difficult it can be getting cash prizes together. I ran a tournament with my best friend last year, hundreds of people came, and the winning team ended up getting $300 each for Halo 3 2v2.
But it was SUCH a hassle. So I forgive you for not having cash prizes.
But the guy with the earlier post has a point. I'm coming from SC. I'm driving over 5 hours for this (mainly just to be with my PMS Clanmates, though) and it would be nice if I could come back home with something worthwhile. :)
Free swag is enough for me. :)

Dragoon, if u dont win a plaque i will make sure i bring mine from last year and u can have it
last year we got a plaque, case of bawls(i personally dont like it), and a bag full of stuff(most oriented towards PC which was kind of a let down)
But whatever it was fun
I will have plaque for you
2 years ago i did win around 50 bucks from this tourney for 2nd place
