Looking at the list, I only see three pc games. sc, wc3x, and ut3.
I read that tf2 wont work because it requires teams of up to 6 people, but to the contrary, arena matches work fine with teams of any size 2+.
What about counter-strike source? or even 1.6? It is a classic game, and 1.6 will run on almost any system.
I notice CoD4 on the 360, but I'm not big on consoles, and I love to play cod4 as well as codWaW on the pc.
This event looks like fun, but looking at the current list, I don't really play any of the pc games. |

I understand where your coming from. I'm a PC player as well. There was talks and hope that there would be a whole building dedicated to PC for this year. Sadly I've heard nothing of it since. I'm sure there are reasons why that hasn't happened, I'll willing to bet it's about licensing but I suppose Mike would be the one to ask. What say you?!? Why so few PC games again? |

I also read somewhere that they aren't doing tf2 because it wont run well on the computers. How are they running ut3? Is epic supplying the systems for that?
also, should I bring my laptop? |

Sorry guys, PC Games aren't as popular so demand isn't actually as high (some people might think it is...). Google it for yourself if you want to (lol, I just did in order to make sure I wasn't behind in the times).
That's actually about all I know. Badder than old King Kong, meaner than a junkyard dog.

As far as tournament play goes, PC games are as popular or even more so than console games are.
CS isn't here because it's 5v5. There's gonna be like, 3 full teams here and 2 more from random players joining together.

Really!?!
Ever think it may be because You guys don't advertise that well for you're Events? I've been gaming competitively for almost 8 years now and have looked on more than one occasion for some sort of Lan competition in North Carolina with no specific game in mind and not once did I ever see you guys.
I'm sure if you put some of the more Popular PC Shooter into your list like Counter Strike, Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress 2 or Call Of Duty Modern Warfare and Actually made an effort to Advertise it well then you might see an Increase in PC gamers attending you're Events.
People have it in there heads that because console gaming is on the rise that PC gaming is slowly fading out and in some retrospect That may be, Most Lans Cater more to the Console gamer now a days and its sad to see these Events Pushing the PC Community out like that, but there will always be a large community in the PC department that really don't care for console gaming for Their First Person Shooters and I don't see why we should be neglected because some people want to see the PC gaming community convert to consoles. I for one AM A PC and I tend to stay that way.
And if Gaming Rigs are the problem you can always have the PC Division BYOC "Bring You're Own Computer." Charge 25 to 30 bucks a seat, Most Gamers like to play on there own Rigs anyway. allow only 25 teams or less that would be 125 people for a 5v5 team, Section off the area into 4 or 8 sections and assign 3 to 5 Judges to each section to walk around and make sure no one try's to cheat.
I don't mean to sound pissed so please don't take it that way, Those are just the facts that people don't seem to want to acknowledge. |

Apox,
I would like to appologize for Roback's comments. I am with you that PC games are very popular and we work very hard to pack as much PC gaming into our event as we can. We unfortunately must deal with aging PC equipment and we are afraid of the liability that would come from a BYOC tournament. I would love to see one someday but besides liability there are a few other things stopping us at the current time.
I do contact multiple, MULTIPLE, PC vendors and suppliers to try and get equipment setup on site like we had back in 2007, but have not had much luck since that year. We do however have some great PC partners like CPU Magazine, who supports us every year, BFG who is our official video card and t-shirt sponsor 2 years running, and FSP who has been our official power supply for 2 years.
We are strong supporters of PC gaming and will continue to make it as big a part of our event as we can each year! Look for new PC tournaments and freeplay games coming soon :-) -= All your tournaments are belong to us =-
