Hello guys,

I have posted my thoughts on the Carolina Games Summit on pumpedgaming.com (allow me a free plug, its a new site!)

Just scroll down a couple of posts and you'll see it. I tried to keep it short.

Thanks!

Nice post on the site. That was a good review I liked it. Those are some good points I'll keep in mind for the 2010 event, I though it was a bit loud too. I can't wait to get to work for 2010, but for right now im gonna settle for my six classes and deal with them first ^_^

P.S. I never knew that having Bawls was such a important thing at CGS. I guess you never miss them until there gone. Well you never know what can happen for 2010.

Many of us agree that crowding is a problem (it always was). This next time around, I think we'll have a system in place so it isn't so bad. We actually had 1270 attendees, about 200 more then last year, so hopefully next year we'll be closer to 1500 (and hopefully our solution to the crowding will work with an even bigger crowd).

If you go to any major theme park, pizza slices are usually $2.00 (I always bought it when I was hungry though >.>). When you have an event, you have to have a lot of pizza and drinks, sometimes you run out, but if you don't sell what you thought you would and have to throw the rest out, you should still be okay (because you doubled the normal price and they bought it anyways, no one wants to drive over to papa johns while they're at the event, so they come to you where there isn't any competition). It's ingenious, really.

I also miss Bawls.

I kind of wish the tournaments ended sooner so we could fit speakers while there weren't any going on. Also so we could have more free play.

I'm probably one of the handfuls of people that thinks the music WASN'T too loud, so I didn't see that coming, and some people complained that the videos were too long, but I thought they were just right, I'm not sure what we're gonna do next year about that, but we still have a year to think about it. (The next one is February 6th, 2010!)

I'm pretty sure Mike Everett (one of the guys responsible for this, on here he's meeverett) partially wanted to make the Carolina Games Summit BECAUSE we're in Goldsboro, and we aint got nothin besides a mall that's actually a hall with some huge rooms branched off of it. Goldsboro is growing though, and who knows, maybe this event will help make it grow?

The 09 CGS was a blast. I do have a few ideas that might help not only with crowding but with getting people to hear the speakers.

1. In between the tournaments for the same game give the systems time to cool, so that they will be able to run better and longer.

2. While the systems are cooling have some speakers talk or give the fans something that will allow them to have fun while the systems are cooling and just to prevent crowding and allow some fun between the tournaments. Because in between the tournaments there is not much to do.

3. Try to work out a schedual where the speakers can really get the fans to litens and get theminterested in either pursuing a career in the game simulation or desgin field or one related to it. While the speakers are speaking the systems can cool and the tournament managers can straighten up and get ready for the next tournament.

4. Try to invite those that helped create the more influetial games for like a meet and greet and autographs, something that would not only be cool but lure potential students and really show them how cool and education can be,but can also show what can happen when you stick to what ever your course of study is and maybe charge a small fee for autographs and maybe to get pictures taken with the fans.

But these are all just ideas. But if you want to try and use anthing I have submitted here send me an email in thanks.
