Hey everyone, I’m in the middle of a bit of a hardware overhaul before the next big event, and I was wondering if any of you have experience with more complex networking setups. I’ve been running into this really annoying issue where my ping stays low, but I get massive jitter spikes whenever my home office telephony system is active.

I work from home, so I have a dedicated <a href="https://serverorbit.com/network-devices/telephony/2-port">2-port telephony gateway</a> that handles all my voice lines. Lately, I’ve noticed that if I’m in a match and someone is on a call, my packet loss goes through the roof. I’ve read a lot of threads about hardware optimization focusing mainly on GPUs and CPUs, but I feel like the networking side is where I’m actually losing my edge. I’m considering adding a dedicated <a href="https://serverorbit.com/network-devices/telephony/2-port">2-port network interface card (NIC)</a> to my rig to see if I can physically isolate the gaming traffic from the rest of the house’s VoIP and data.

My specific question is whether anyone here has successfully used a 2-port configuration to split their bandwidth priorities at the hardware level rather than just relying on basic router QoS? I’ve tried the software route, but it never feels truly stable. I’m a bit worried about potential IRQ conflicts or if the motherboard will even play nice with an enterprise-grade NIC alongside a high-end graphics card. It’s a bit of a niche problem, but when you're trying to stay competitive, every millisecond counts.

Has anyone noticed a real-world difference in stability when moving away from the onboard Ethernet to a multi-port dedicated card, or am I just overthinking the bottleneck?
