Where's the PC FPS tournament? We could at least have Quake 3 like in 2010! I vote Quake 3 or Painkiller PK++.

Right now we only have two computer labs and one is taken by SC2 and the other is being sponsored by funcom. We should be adding one more PC tournament but I am not sure which game that will be just yet! I prefer playing FPS games on the PC but unfortunately we just don't have high end PCs in that building to run the newest FPS games.
We do have some custom Unreal based games we have built that should be available for play in the exhibition hall but I'm not sure about a full blown tournament. We'll keep you all posted!

Neither Quake 3 nor Painkiller are "new" games.. Quake 3 is from 1999 and Painkiller 1 is from 2004. They can run on pretty old PCs, especially Quake 3. Whatever game it is, it just has to be one of those two. It would be a sin to pick anything else, haha

What bout team fortress? Doing teams of 4 would probably be competitive. Or it could just be a free for all no tournament room. That would be pretty cool. I guess the steam accounts would be a pain in the butt though. |

If there were to be a Quake 3 tournament like in 2010, it would be very easy to make it happen. Quake 3 is so non-system-intensive, the game can run on almost anything now at like 125fps. The Quake 3 tournament in 2010 had a good turnout, and Quake 3 is one of the easiest games to set up for a tournament. We could just have pak0.pk3 and the 1.32 point release installed in a few minutes on all the PCs and then easily start a 1v1 tournament. The rules in 2010 were fair.. it was a 25 frag limit, with a small map pool that lended itself well to 1v1. Players were allowed to bring their own mouse, mousepad, and were allowed 5 minutes to configure the game to their liking. I think going with the exact same rules wouldn't invite any complaints, although the addition of a time limit to the games might be a good idea.
Painkiller is a little bit more system-intensive, and Quake is much more well known than PK. Plus, installing PK and then the PK++ mod (which makes it work well as a competitive game) would take considerably longer than the simple process for Quake 3's installation on all the PCs.
I'm sure a lot of people would be excited to see Quake 3 on the tournament list again after its absence from 2011.

The real problem is finding people who play these games. Back when Quake was played we had the same 4 people in the finals year after year. |

Dude X... what's up. I'm still confused why there is no BYOPC. Have you played any BF3? I'm in love with it. Soooooo goooood. Hope to be beaten by your guys again this year if there are any pc fps. Oh, wanted to mention also, if there is a Bloodline Champions torny, do you guys want to team up this year? Me and Chris placed 3rd last year. Could use another sharp mind for that torny. |

Please, can there be some info on a PC FPS tournament? Even just emulating the Quake 3 tournament from 2010 I think would be enough.
