Barton College has launched a competitive esports program that will begin varsity and club competition in Fall 2019. They are now seeking students to join their competitive co-ed teams and begin their ascension to the top of the collegiate esports world. Barton will be available at their exhibition booth during the Carolina Games Summit on Saturday, Feb 2nd from 10 am - 9 pm at The Maxwell Center in Goldsboro, NC. Interested students and their parents can meet with representatives and discuss the application process, scholarships, game lists, and even their planned arena.

"We are excited to be attending the upcoming Carolina Games Summit to showcase our new esports program," said Paul Christianson, Assistant Professor of Sport Management at Barton College. "The interest and support we have seen so far for the program have been tremendous and we are already looking forward to welcoming our new recruits to campus in the fall."

Barton College will compete in a variety of games in the National Association of Collegiate Esports, American Video Game League, Collegiate Starleague, and TESPA. The list includes League of Legends, Rocket League, Fortnite, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Madden, and NBA 2K. Additional games will be supported based upon student interest and demand.

“Our event attempts to provide esports enthusiasts a path to a career in this emerging field,” says Michael Everett, Creative Director for Carolina Games Summit. “An esports program at Barton College provides a clear path for gamers who also want to gain a nationally recognized college education while they push the limits of their esports career.”
